    Wheelchair Clinic

When you need a wheelchair, it should be tailored to your specific needs. The Wheelchair Clinic in Eau Claire will help you get the right wheelchair. Depending on demand, the clinic is held up to two times per month.

During the clinic, physicians, physical therapists and local vendors work together to help you find the best option to meet your mobility needs while also complying with insurance requirements. The team will evaluate your functional and medical needs to determine the best wheelchair for you.

Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the clinic appointment time. Be prepared by bringing your insurance information.

After your appointment, the authorization process for your selected wheelchair will immediately begin. The vendor for the selected wheelchair will submit all medical and therapy notes to your insurance company to request authorization. The vendor will answer questions regarding payment, wait times and delivery of your new wheelchair. Insurance authorization can take several months.

When the wheelchair arrives, it is assembled and tailored to the your needs determined during the clinic. The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation team and wheelchair vendors continue to work with you throughout the process.

Call us or talk to your primary care provider for a referral to the Wheelchair Clinic.
