Primary Care On Demand is an app-based virtual care service available 24/7/365. This option offers Mayo Clinic Health System patients in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa flexible and convenient care for urgent symptoms and chronic conditions, including video visits with a physician in under 30 minutes. Although separate from the Mayo Clinic patient portal, this service syncs with your portal account and uses the same login information. This service is available for patients ages 3 and older. Children and teens ages 3 to 17 can use Primary Care On Demand with the help of a parent or guardian.

When to use Primary Care On Demand
For sudden illnesses and common conditions
Use Primary Care On Demand for common conditions like sore throat, rash, cough, pink eye, upper respiratory infection, sinus infection, urinary tract infection and many more.
For help managing your chronic conditions and general wellness
Primary Care On Demand physicians can help you manage your chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes. You can also use this service for weight management.
When you don’t have easy access to the clinic
You can use this app-based service from home, work or anywhere in Minnesota, Wisconsin or Iowa. It’s also an ideal option when you don’t have easy access to the clinic, like when you’re traveling away from home.
When clinics are closed
Primary Care On Demand is available any time, day or night. This option is especially helpful when clinics are closed on evenings, weekends and holidays, when same-day appointments fill up and without disrupting school or work schedules.
Setting up the Primary Care On Demand app
- Download the mobile app through your phone’s app store.

- Log in to the Primary Care On Demand app using your Mayo Clinic patient portal username and password. If you don’t have a Mayo Clinic patient portal account, visit Mayo Clinic Online Services to create one.
- Enter your insurance information and confirm a few details about your medical history before entering information about your condition.
Using Primary Care On Demand for an appointment
- Log into the Primary Care On Demand app using your Mayo Clinic patient portal username and password.
- Use the chat feature to answer questions about your symptoms and receive information about your condition.
- Move on to a video visit with a physician, if you’d like. You can request to be seen as soon as possible or register for a visit at a future time.
- Have your physician send a prescription to your preferred pharmacy or order required lab tests if needed.
After you register for a visit, you’ll typically connect with a physician in under 30 minutes. Most patients wait less than 10 minutes for a video visit.
