Why is genetic counseling important?
Genetic counseling gives you information you may need to make informed decisions about your health, especially if you are pregnant or planning a family. The genetic counselor will help you understand complex genetic information and the options available for genetic testing.
What is the right birth control method for me?
Birth control options vary from natural family planning and over-the-counter birth control products to prescription contraceptives or sterilization. To help determine which method is best for you, consider your lifestyle, personal preferences and health status when discussing this with your healthcare provider.
What is a gynecological preventive exam?
A gynecological preventive exam is a great opportunity for you and your provider to review your health, discuss preventive health steps, conduct screenings and address questions you may have related to women's health.
What should I bring for my first appointment?
For your first appointment, bring your current prescription information or medical records from non-Mayo Clinic Health System facilities. Complete a medical records release form to authorize the transfer of health records from another healthcare facility to us. Visit our Medical Record Forms page for this form and other forms in multiple languages.

Discuss your hysterectomy surgery options with your provider.
