Community Engagement
Partnerships and Education
Mayo Clinic Health System works with other nonprofit organizations and government agencies to address community needs. Collaboration allows community partners to maximize resources and achieve better outcomes for the benefit of the community. Our leaders and staff serve on various boards of directors and coalitions in the area. Numerous staff members serve the community as members of work groups, task forces and service clubs.
We are pleased to collaborate with:
- Adopt-A-School
In 2019, we began collaborating with nearby Lincoln Middle School as part of Adopt-a-School, a program offered by the La Crosse Public Education Foundation which matches businesses and community organizations to specific schools. Together, we work to improve student success, promote support for the school district, and channel volunteers and resources for the school. - Boys & Girls Clubs Of Greater La Crosse
Our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs began when our leaders toured the Mathy Center Club in 2013. We were inspired by the Boys & Girls Clubs' unique commitment and ability to serve youth in our community. Since then, our ongoing collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs has spanned programs such as the Guitar Academy; placement of full-time behavioral health specialists at the Mathy and Erickson Clubs. - Coulee Recovery Center
Mayo Clinic Health System partnered with Coulee Council on Addictions to provide a home a new Coulee Recovery Center within the bounds of our La Crosse campus. The bright, spacious facility opened in 2018, allowing for the expansion of addiction prevention and recovery programs. The organization continues to collaborate to address addiction in our community.
- Health Science Academy
Mayo Clinic Health System is a proud partner of the Health Science Academy (HSA). The HSA provides high school students with experiences in healthcare. Program goals include improving diversity, creating opportunities for students, and developing long-term workforce strategies. The program provides thematic instruction, career exploration, job shadows, clinical experience, health science labs, mentoring by health professionals, research, certification and internship opportunities for students. At Mayo Clinic Health System, students engage in field experiences, job shadows and mentorships, as well as basic and advanced life support training.
- Salvation Army Mental Health Services
We are pleased to sponsor the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign each December. On Mayo Clinic Health System match day, all funds raised go to support mental health services provided by the Salvation Army in La Crosse County. Many of our employees and their families enjoy serving as volunteer bell ringers on match day. - University Of Wisconsin–La Crosse Health Care Research Partnership
This unique partnership enables researchers from Mayo Clinic Health System and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to work together and prepare the next generation of scientists, innovators and health care providers. Roughly one-fifth of UW-L students are pursuing careers in the health sciences. - Washburn Corner
This cozy house, owned by Mayo Clinic Health System, is located in La Crosse's Washburn neighborhood. It serves as home to the La Crosse Area Family Collaborative, the System of Care program, two La Crosse Police neighborhood resource officers and a Little Free Library. Residents benefit from easy access to programs and services. The programs and services are enhanced through relationships built with residents.
