Child Bed-Wetting and Constipation Therapy - La Crosse
Occasional incontinence and constipation are a normal part of growing up. However, it can be stressful and embarrassing for children who have difficulty controlling their bowel and bladder.
During the initial evaluation, a therapist will review daytime voiding patterns, nighttime episode history, and eating and drinking patterns. The therapist also will perform physical tests to determine muscle coordination, strength and relaxation ability.
After the evaluation, we will discuss your child’s condition with you and assess his or her willingness to participate in therapy. If your child is ready to participate, we will tailor the treatment plan to meet his or her needs.
The sessions include a combination of education; biofeedback for improved pelvic floor and abdominal activation and relaxation; strengthening exercises; and relaxation techniques, including breathing exercises and behavioral modifications. We also may discuss scheduling toileting and proper toileting positions. Visits are both challenging and fun.
Talk to your child’s primary care provider for more information.
