Occupational Therapy
If you suffer from an injury, disability or illness that affects your ability to perform everyday tasks, we can help. Our occupational therapists are experts at helping people of all ages regain their quality of life. We’ll help you maximize your independence and participation in activities of daily living, school, job functions, leisure and social situations.
Occupational therapists work closely with other healthcare providers, who may refer a patient to therapy following surgery, wrist or hand injuries, immobilization by splints or casts, and/or a change in ability to perform everyday activities.
After a thorough evaluation, the therapist and patient create an individualized treatment plan to improve, sustain or restore daily functional activities. A treatment plan may include:
- Range of motion and strengthening exercises
- Therapeutic activities
- Splinting
- Home safety evaluations
- Training and education
Patients take an active role in their recovery by completing home exercises, functional activities and by learning how to manage their symptoms and pain, and prevent re-injury.
