Clinical Pastoral Education Residency program
Mayo Clinic Health System’s Hospital Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program in Eau Claire has a history extending over 40 years. This one-year residency provides residents of all religious and spiritual backgrounds with an experience-based theological education, distinguished by excellence in multiple medical specialties and interdisciplinary teamwork in the state-of-the-art Mayo Clinic facilities.
Accredited by the ACPE in Level I/II CPE, this relational, experiential, transformational educational process trains future spiritual care leaders in the areas of Spiritual Formation and Integration, Awareness of Self and Others, Relational Dynamics, Spiritual Care Interventions, and Professional Development, with an emphasis on integrating one’s life experience with one’s understanding of spiritual care.
Residents work alongside board-certified chaplains learning the art and best practices of spiritual care. The depth of our training empowers residents to realize their full potential to emotionally support, help alleviate suffering and spiritually strengthen those in their care, as well as themselves.

Hospital Medicine Fellowship
Hospital medicine demands a broad and highly specialized skill set. Hospitalists are increasingly responsible for managing patients with higher acuity and greater clinical complexity. They serve not only as primary attending physicians on general medicine services but also on subspecialty inpatient services, reflecting the expanding scope and critical role of hospital medicine in today’s healthcare system.

Integrated Community and Rural General Surgery Residency
Mayo Clinic offers a five-year residency program that combines the academic excellence of Mayo Clinic residency with a robust community and rural surgical experience within Mayo Clinic Health System. This residency, which began in 2015, has an emphasis on surgical breadth within general surgery and surgical subspecialties. It allows a qualified candidate to confidently practice in a community, rural or international setting after the successful completion of the residency. One trainee completes this program annually.

Mayo Clinic Family Medicine residencies
Mayo Clinic’s Family Medicine Residency programs, located across Mayo Clinic Health System, offer comprehensive, community-based training within a nationally respected academic health system. Residents receive full-spectrum family medicine education grounded in patient-centered care, strong faculty mentorship, and an emphasis on continuity, prevention, and whole-person health. Through all three programs, residents train in modern clinical settings, engage deeply with the communities they serve and are supported in developing the clinical skills, leadership capacity and professional identity needed for diverse careers in family medicine.

Nurse Residency
Mayo Clinic Health System offers a year-long nursing education program that provides additional opportunities for newly licensed nurses to develop leadership skills and receive support during the transition from student nurse to competent professional nurse.
Participation in the Nurse Residency Program is an investment in yourself and your future as a nurse leader at Mayo Clinic.
Highlights of the program include:

All newly-graduated nurses employed at Mayo Clinic Health System receive a comprehensive orientation that prepares them for practicing in their nursing specialty environment. The Nurse Residency Program is a rigorous training program that will help you build your leadership and professional skills as well as provide supplemental transition support during the first year of your career.
The program is based on the standards set by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) for RN residencies.

Postgraduate Year One (PGY-1) Pharmacy Residency
The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Mayo Clinic Health System is a 12-month program that provides didactic and clinical experiences for Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) graduates. As a pharmacy resident, you will develop the expertise to provide medication-related care for patients with a wide range of conditions.

Postgraduate Year Two (PGY-2) Pharmacy Residency
The PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY-1 pharmacy residency programs to prepare clinical pharmacists for advanced patient care in specialized areas of practice. During the 12-month program, students learn to function independently as a practitioner in ambulatory care or emergency medicine.
