Internships and clinical rotations
Mayo Clinic Health System offers many internships and clinical rotations to help students develop hands-on skills that build on classroom learning.
Internships and clinical rotations relate to clinical or nonclinical experiences required for academic credit. They may be referred to as preceptorships or practicums. We have agreements with many academic institutions to offer clinical and nonclinical rotation experiences. Undergraduate and postgraduate experiences are available in nursing and other areas.
Faculty, clinical instructors and students should complete the Clinical Experience Request Form to initiate the process. The form should be submitted at least six months prior to your requested date for the approval and placement process to be completed. Upon submission, the form will be routed to appropriate staff on the campus of your choice. Note: Do not submit this form if you are a nursing student.
If you have a non-nursing clinical experience approved, you must complete all orientation materials before you begin.

We also offer job shadowing to undergraduate and postgraduate students who are required to have a shadow experience as part of their curriculum or application to a healthcare-related academic program.
