    Transitional Care

    Ventilator and Specialized Respiratory Care

Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City offers high quality short- and long-term care to patients who need mechanical ventilation and other specialized respiratory care including tracheostomy care and noninvasive ventilation such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP®).

A Team Approach to Your Care

Our professional and caring multidisciplinary team uses best practices in helping patients using mechanical ventilation breathe on their own as much as possible, a concept known as weaning.  For some, that may mean eliminating their need to use a ventilator.

    The team consists of:

    • physicians and nurse practitioners
    • respiratory therapists
    • registered and licensed practical nurses
    • certified nursing assistants
    • physical, occupational and speech therapists
    • social workers
    • activities staff
    • dieticians
    • clergy

Our care model also includes weekly multidisciplinary team visits at the patients’ bedside to make sure personal, physical, social, spiritual and nutritional needs are being met.

Our team works closely with Pulmonary and Critical Care providers from Mayo Clinic who visit patients in Lake City on a weekly basis.

Not all treatments, tests and services are available at all Mayo Clinic Health System locations. Check with your preferred location in advance.
