Surgical Oncology
There's no need to travel for advanced cancer treatment and expert surgical care. Surgical Oncology is a subspecialty of Surgery, with expert training to remove cancerous tumors and growths.
Surgical oncologists works closely with other specialists involved in your care to diagnose and provide timely surgical intervention for simple and complex conditions, including:
- Colon cancer
- Melanoma
- Neuroendocrine and small bowel tumors
- Soft tissue sarcomas
- Stomach cancer (gastric cancer)
As part of your care plan, your primary care provider may refer you to Surgery or Surgical Oncology for a consultation depending on your condition.
Video appointments may be available for your surgical oncology consultation. From a mobile device with the Mayo Clinic App or with a computer using your Patient Online Services account, video appointments offer a private, secure option from the comfort of home. While you and your provider may not be in the same room, the appointment is otherwise the same as an in-person appointment: reviewing your care plan and surgical options.
