The Observation Unit is located within the Emergency Department, and consists of six beds accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Observation Unit allows Emergency Department providers to closely monitor patients for up to 24 hours without admitting them to an inpatient unit of the hospital. This results in shorter hospital stays and more comprehensive diagnoses. Patients who may be admitted to the Observation Unit include patients experiencing:
Chest pain
Asthma complications
Dehydration
Flank pain
Cellulitis
