Emergency Department Observation Unit in Eau Claire

The Observation Unit is located within the Emergency Department. There are six beds accessible 24/7/365.

The unit allows Emergency Department providers to closely monitor patients for up to 24 hours without admitting them to an inpatient unit of the hospital. This results in shorter hospital stays and more comprehensive diagnoses.

Patients who may be admitted to the Observation Unit include those experiencing:

  • Chest pain
  • Asthma complications
  • Dehydration
  • Flank pain
  • Cellulitis
