Diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and conditions. Includes regular annual eye exams, eyeglass prescriptions, and contact lens fitting and dispensing.
Our contact lens department has a wide variety of lenses available:
- Gas permeable lenses for single vision, astigmatism and multi focal.
- Lenses for corneal refractive therapy (CRT).
- Soft lenses for single vision, astigmatism and multi focal.
- Sclera lenses for single vision, astigmatism and multi focal.
- Hybrid lenses for single vision, astigmatism and multi focal.
All of these lenses also have abilities to correct cornea problems due to trauma or disease.
Contact lens fun facts:
- The first contact lens, developed in 1888, was glass blown.
- The first plastic single vision, bifocal and trifocal lenses were patented in 1936.
- The first corneal lens was released in 1950.
- In 1970, the first soft lens was developed in Czechoslovakia and marketed by Bausch and Lomb.
- The first hybrid lens was released in 1976.
- The first CRT lens was approved by the FDA in 2002.
