    Cardiac Rehabilitation

    Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised exercise and education program that assists patients in recovering from a heart event or dealing with a heart condition.

By working together with your health care providers, you can reduce the risk of new problems. Your cardiac rehab team can include:

    • Physicians
    • Nurses
    • Exercise physiologists
    • Health educators
    • Physical therapists
    • Dietitians
    • Social workers

Cardiac rehabilitation provides individualized plans to increase your physical activity and fitness through medically supervised and monitored exercise.

    Benefits of exercise

    • Improved cardiovascular health and fitness
    • Changes in your heart risk factors such as high blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol
    • Greater sense of confidence and well-being
    • Enhanced ability to return to previous level of activity and work

Cardiac rehabilitation also teaches you about heart disease and healthy lifestyle habits while providing emotional support.

Cardiac rehabilitation at Mayo Clinic Health System in northwest Wisconsin is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Check out information about cardiac rehabilitation.
