Neurosurgery
Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic Health System specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the brain, nervous system and spine. We provide brain, back and functional neurosurgical procedures. The Neurosurgery Department treats adolescent and older patients, and offers a number of minimally invasive procedures for faster recovery and optimum patient outcomes.

Tests and procedures
For the Spine:
- Minimally-invasive spine surgery
- Decompressions and fusions — cervical/thoracic/lumbar degenerative disease
- Management of spinal fractures, including surgery
- Spinal tumor surgery, both intrinsic and metastatic
- Vertebral augmentation (vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty) including radiofrequency ablation of spinal tumors
Cranial Surgery
- Tumor surgery, both intrinsic and metastatic, biopsy and resection, including awake craniotomies with mapping
- Management of subdural hematomas/hygromas
- Hydrocephalus (including normal pressure hydrocephalus, NPH) shunting and third ventriculostomy
- Evaluation of aneurysms and arteriovenous malformation (AVMs)
