Our triage nurses can answer general medical questions, assess new or worsening symptoms and help guide your next steps. Their goal is to connect you to the right level of care, at the right time and in the right location.
For urgent symptoms and chronic conditions, you can also schedule a virtual visit with a provider through our Primary Care On Demand mobile app.

FAQ
Can triage nurses prescribe medications?
Our nurses cannot prescribe medications. If you need a new medication or refill, we recommend making an appointment. You can also message your primary care provider through the patient portal.
What if I need to see a provider?
Virtual visits are available through Primary Care On Demand Mayo Clinic Health System also offers in-person care at many locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin, including same-day care, primary care and specialty care.
Is the Nurse Triage Line free?
The Nurse Triage Line is a free service for Mayo Clinic Health System primary care patients.
