Vaccine clinic in La Crosse extended
LA CROSSE, Wis. ― Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse is extending the centralized vaccine clinic for two weeks. The site, located at the corner of 10th and Market streets, is the main site for patients and staff to receive flu and COVID-19 vaccinations. COVID-19 testing also is available. The clinic is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Nov. 11. If an appointment is preferred, patients can schedule through their Patient Online Services account or in the Mayo Clinic app, or call 608-392-7400.
Nearly four thousand patients were vaccinated last week, with nearly a third receiving a COVID-19 vaccination.
"We're expecting to see increased volumes at the vaccination clinic for the next several weeks," says Benjamin Anderson, nurse administrator for the flu shot clinic and COVID-19 vaccination site at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. "Demand for influenza and the Pfizer COVID-19 booster vaccines has been steady and robust, and we are also preparing for the impending FDA approval of the Moderna booster and pediatric dosing of the COVID-19 vaccine for children 5–11."
The FDA's independent advisory committee meets Oct. 26, and the CDC's independent advisory committee meets Nov. 2–3 to discuss COVID-19 vaccinations for children 5–11.
