Wellness Program Partnership with Mankato Area Public Schools
MANKATO, Minn. — Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato is partnering with Mankato Area Public Schools around wellness programming during the week of Oct. 4-8 to reinforce healthy habits in the classroom, at home and in the community.
Each day of Fall Wellness Week will focus on a different healthy habit at all 10 elementary schools in the Mankato district. Topics include a mix of nutrition and physical education ideas.
Wednesday is Walk, Bike or Move Day, which coincides with National Walk & Bike to School day and encourages kids to get active. Mayo Clinic Health System is giving each elementary school student in the district a safety light that can be attached to a backpack or bike.
In addition, Mayo Clinic Health System provided a $5,000 grant to the Mankato Area Public Schools ALPS Wellness program, which will be split among the elementary schools.
Mayo Clinic Health System consists of clinics, hospitals and other facilities that serve the health care needs of people in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
