FAIRMONT, Minn. — Cathleen LaLonde, Ph.D., recently joined Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont and began seeing behavioral health patients Dec. 3. A Clinical Psychologist, Dr. LaLonde’s primary professional focus is the emotional and mental health of patients. This includes many areas of behavioral health service, such as anxiety, depression, trauma work, women’s health and mood or emotional symptoms related to chronic health conditions.
“Anyone can benefit from mental health treatment,” says Dr. LaLonde. “I’m fascinated by the human brain and enjoy helping people understand their own emotions. As a behavioral health provider, I’m compassionate and empathetic. I like to look at the whole person to understand their individual needs.”
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Dr. LaLonde earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont, she recently completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a member of the American Psychological Association.
“I hope to help people understand their feelings and struggles, and to learn new ways of coping that will inspire positive changes in their lives,” says Dr. LaLonde. “I want to help promote resilience and enhance people’s strengths.”
