    Sports Medicine

Through the athletic training services, the physical therapy department offers injury screening during the school year at the local high school for the in season athletes. Physical therapy services are also offered on an outpatient basis. After an athletic injury, a physical therapist will perform an initial in depth evaluation and then develop a treatment plan with guided sport specific rehabilitation and exercise. A physical therapist will monitor progress and correct faulty movement patters which may have contributed to the injury. This correction will prevent further injury occurring with the goal of a safe return to your sport.

If you have a sport or activity related injury, a physical therapist will establish an individualized performance training program for you to optimize recovery and speed your return-to-play.

Physical therapists treat a range of conditions with the following techniques:

    • Bracing
    • Taping
    • Manual therapy
    • Modalities
    • Sports/activity specific training
    • Plyometrics
    • Agility and quickness
    • Overhead athlete shoulder program
