As chief nursing officer, I have the wonderful opportunity to lead all of the nurses who work at our various sites in the multiple locations where nursing practice is delivered. We deliver nursing across a variety of settings — hospitals, clinics, within homes and our communities.
I am privileged to oversee nursing practice in an environment that supports a care model that promotes excellence through the establishment of relationships that are collaborative, compassionate and caring.
Our primary value — the needs of the patient come first — is a priority for our staff. The nurses and all of our staff keep patients' needs and outcomes at the forefront of their minds, focusing on quality and service. Our evidence-based approach is consistent, and it is promoted throughout all of our locations. We encourage innovation and leadership through participation on various committees and councils, not only within our region, but also throughout Mayo Clinic.

DAISY Award to honor Extraordinary Registered Nurses
When 33-year-old Patrick Barnes died of an autoimmune disease, his family struggled with how to celebrate his memory.
They found their answer in the compassion, sensitivity and caring of the nurses who cared for Pat.
Thus was born a national program called The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Mayo Clinic Health System registered nurses in the Eau Claire, Barron, Bloomer and Osseo regions have the opportunity to be honored with The DAISY Award.
DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. Pat died from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon autoimmune disease. His family members established the not-for-profit DAISY Foundation, based in Glen Ellen, Calif.
The DAISY Award, presented in collaboration with The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the “super-human” efforts nurses perform.
“We are proud to be among the organizations participating in The DAISY Award program,” said Pam White, chief nursing officer at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. “Nurses are heroes every day. It’s important that our nurses know their work is highly valued, and The DAISY Foundation provides a way for us to do that.”
Based on specific criteria (see nomination form), a registered nurse will be selected monthly to receive The DAISY Award.
The award honors nurses with a beautiful certificate, statue, presentation and more.
