    Lipid Clinic

Dyslipidemia. It's a big, long word, but it's linked to something very common — heart disease, the No. 1 killer in the United States. If you have dyslipidemia — abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels — like many Americans, you can do something about it.

Research shows that high LDL (bad) cholesterol and low HDL (good) cholesterol increase your risk for heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. Recent research also shows that improving cholesterol levels may not only slow the process of plaque buildup but can, in some instances, reverse it.

Our specialty Lipid Clinic in Eau Claire is the only one in the region. Services include:

    • Screening for abnormal lipid values (blood test)
    • Explanation of lipid profile results
    • Counseling on risk factors (high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, overweight, sedentary lifestyle and family history)
    • Risk factor modification and referral to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire resources and programs (smoking cessation, exercise, weight loss, low-fat/low-cholesterol diet, diabetes education)
    • Medication management
