Heart attack victim shares her unique story

Sheila Dutton was an unlikely heart attack victim at age 32. By time she arrived at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wis., for emergency heart surgery, Sheila’s cardiac surgeon Dr. Robert Wiechmann doubted she’d live through the night. But Sheila beat the odds and shares her story and talks about the resulting friendship with a surgeon she remains “forever grateful” to for saving her life.

For the safety of our patients, staff and visitors, Mayo Clinic has strict masking policies in place. Anyone shown without a mask was either recorded prior to COVID-19 or recorded in a non-patient care area where social distancing and other safety protocols were followed.
