Social distancing is the new normal, but how do you maintain social distance without increasing social isolation?
There are multiple known negative health effects related to social isolation which have been accelerated by the pandemic. These can range from increased falls, mortality, cognitive decline and emergency room visits. Social isolation and interacting with elderly family and friends will be the focus of a free virtual “Health Talk Series” Zoom webinar from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15.
Anita Bissinger, licensed clinical social worker at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, will share information on how to reduce isolation using both low and high tech activities which will increase individual’s well-being.
